Sustainability at the Y

Community health is vital to the Y's work. Our facility has been upgraded to improve air quality, save energy, and reduce waste. This is our part of Social Responsibility.

Health & Air Quality Upgrades at the YMCA

Ion Boosting Technology: Our facilities are now equipped with bi-polar ionization systems that naturally improve indoor air quality. This technology helps reduce harmful pollutants, allergens, smoke, odors, and pathogens—including viruses—without producing harmful byproducts.

Air Quality Testing: Recent testing during wildfire smoke confirmed our indoor air was cleaner than outside. Our HVAC systems effectively reduce smoke, particulates (PM2.5), and VOCs while maintaining safe CO2 levels.

Improved Ventilation: Our upgraded systems automatically adjust airflow based on occupancy, bringing in fresh outdoor air to dilute indoor pollutants, as recommended by CDC and ASHRAE guidelines.

Child Watch Room: This space receives 100% fresh, continuously circulated air through a custom HVAC unit, ensuring the cleanest environment for children while efficiently recovering energy.

At the YMCA, your health and safety are our top priority—our facilities are designed to provide clean, fresh air for everyone.
