The goal of this program is to engage, prepare, and support students who are interested in going into the field of education and create a post-secondary pathway for students who do not have an immediate opportunity to participate in college. By partnering these young adults with a mentor/supervisor, we are helping them gain skills and certifications that may lead to professional jobs here in the Wood River Valley.
We began the program with six apprenticeships and today we have 19 hard-working apprentices in the program each working to complete 144 hours of on-the-job training to earn certification with the Department of Labor. Of that group, one is now a teacher, two are working as paraprofessionals, and another is student teaching.
If you are interested in becoming an apprentice, please email Araceli Saldana at asaldana@woodriverymca.org
