Led by certified teachers, Power Scholars Academy Camp is a program designed to increase a students academic success by boosting math and reading skills and self-confidence over the summer.
Power Scholars Academy is a joint effort between the Y and BCSD to combat summer learning loss. BCSD identified students that would benefit form attending Power Scholars Academy Camp.
Power Scholars Academy is a five-week, full-day summer learning experience that combines small group, rigorous academic instruction with fun, hands-on enrichment activities, field trips, and service projects. It is designed to help students gain new academic skills, strengthen their literacy and math skills, and stay on track so they can enter school in the fall ready to succeed. Instruction is led by certified teachers and supported by teaching assistants.
The summer learning program is designed to address summer learning loss for low-income children and thereby enhance overall youth development, academic performance, and graduation rates.
BELL provided additional philanthropic funding to develop program innovations and build local sustainability.
