The Y’s PIQE Program (Parent Institute for Quality Education) engages, empowers and transforms families by providing the knowledge and skills to partner with schools and communities to ensure their students achieve their full potential.
This is an 8-week parent-engagement sessions for elementary, middle, and high school students, using an evidence based curriculum and materials. These programs are offered in both Spanish and English, designed to raise the family’s level of concern, give them resources and tools, and move them into action.
This is a free program offered by the Y in partnership with BCSD. The program is offered in the spring and in the fall. Staff from the YMCA call every family in eligible grades to invite them into the program. The program serves about 100 parents per session. The principal from your school will regularly participate and you will gain access, influence, and understanding through this program.
