Dear YMCA Partners,
During this time of national crisis, the Wood River Community YMCA is working to preserve the health of our community, while temporarily suspending facility access and many of our services. We recognize that many of these services are critical for working families, those struggling with chronic disease, and the mental and physical health of our community.
We are living out the Y’s core values. We recognize that we are called to the service of our community, now more than ever. We know that it will be difficult for our community to recover from this economic challenge. For that reason, in addition to investigating alternative ways to care for our community, we will continue to pay part- and full-time staff as long as we are able. In addition, we are actively working with other employers encouraging them to do the same. To the greatest extent possible, we are using staff time to add value to your membership by completing work, like pool maintenance, thereby eliminating the need for other scheduled closures. We are also using their time to take action where possible to meet changing needs resulting from this disease.
We ask for your patience and support. We cannot forego member dues, program fees, and contributed support while continuing to employ staff and serve our community. While it is critically important that we practice social distancing to protect the health of vulnerable communities, we must work together to ensure a functioning economy when restrictions are lifted.
We know that this is a difficult time for many of you. If you need financial assistance, even in the short-term, to continue your membership or continue to support childcare programs, please let us know.
Your support is needed if we are to ensure that these critical community programs are available when this crisis has ended.
Please know that we are thinking about you and your family. In the near-term, watch for more correspondence including online group fitness classes and activities for children.
