| What the Y is: A Message from the Wood River Community YMCA August 2, 2004 KETCHUM, Idaho - Back in 1989, the City of Ketchum leaders had the vision to recognize the emerging needs of an extraordinary community. Ketchum was growing into a community of unique individuals from around the world, who had chosen this nurturing, small town environment for their families in which to live and flourish. These City leaders were anticipating expanding need to provide further recreational programs, as well as to help facilitate cultural, arts and educational programs, and also to support additional community services. YMCA Celebrity Classic Lights up the Links KETCHUM, Idaho World renowned actors and performers are set to converge on Sun Valley this Aug. 14-15 to participate in the Wood River Community YMCA’s Celebrity Classic. Founded by Hollywood television producer, Bud Yorkin, the annual sell-out event raises awareness and revenue benefiting the Wood River Community YMCA. Dumke Family Gived $1.5 Million to Wood River Community YMCA KETCHUM, Idaho Two generations of the Dumke family have come together in support of the Wood River Community YMCA. Edmund Wattis Dumke and Carol Browning Dumke, and their children Valerie Dumke, Michelle Dumke Praggastis, Ed E. Dumke, and Andrew Dumke, along with the Wattis Dumke Foundation, pledged a combined $1.5 million towards the facility. With this generous gift, fundraising for the project has now reached $5.5 million. Organizers hope to raise $16 million total to fund the project. |
