The Y

For Youth Development; For Healthy Living; For Social Responsibility.

Ys have been serving the American public for nearly 160 years, not as health clubs, but a cause-driven organization committed to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. Ys are collectively the largest non-profit community service organization in the United States. They are at the heart of community life in neighborhoods and towns across America. The Wood River Community Y is no exception. Can you imagine our community without the Y? Ys are joined together by a shared passion: To strengthen the foundation of the community. Our Y’s 5,000 members can attest to it!

The Goal

The Y relies on charitable contributions to various programs, grants and proceeds from fundraising events to supplement the budget. 25% of the revenue comes from fundraising events and goes straight into the Y’s programs. This year, we must raise money to provide financial assistance to our community members to help with membership or program fees.

Proceeds

The proceeds of this event will help ensure that the Y provides quality, affordable programming and that no one is ever turned away due to an inability to pay. Currently, the Y provides over $600,000 worth of financial assistance and scholarships to our community members to help with membership or program fees.
